ABOUT ME
I’m a Teesside-based photographer, capturing the beauty of the North of England through my lens. I studied at the renowned Northern School of Art, and graduated in 2024 with a BA (Hons) Photography degree.
Growing up, I was always captivated by the natural world, and some of my fondest childhood memories are of outdoor adventures with my family - exploring forests, fields, and coastlines. I've always felt a deep connection to animals, whether it was the pets I grew up with, exotic creatures, or wildlife spotted on trips to the zoo. Animals, in all their shapes and sizes, bring beauty, peace, and meaning to life. Each one plays a vital role in keeping our planet vibrant and thriving. Being around them has always brought me a sense of happiness I can’t quite find anywhere else. The unique personalities and behaviors of animals add so much richness to the world around us.
At nine years old, I got my first camera. Creativity runs in my family, and my grandad, a photographer himself, would often let me borrow his camera with a few stern warnings (I was careful, I promise!). Eventually, he got me my own. From that moment on, I was hooked. Throughout my teenage years, I constantly captured moments - whether with my camera or smartphone - finding joy in preserving the fleeting beauty around me.
As a disabled photographer, living with several chronic illnesses, I often have to navigate accessibility in my work. This means I can't always venture far or explore remote places. But it’s also taught me to find beauty in the unexpected, in the small, quiet moments that others might overlook. Whether it’s a layby on the moors, the light falling just right on a tree branch, or the calm of a hidden spot by the water, these moments have become just as meaningful as the grand landscapes I once imagined I’d capture. It’s all part of how I see the world, slowing down, observing, and finding depth in what’s right in front of me.
One of my recent projects, Our Wild World, was born out of my desire to shift the way we view animals. In a world full of millions of species, with humans often at the forefront, it’s easy to forget that every animal has its own unique personality. Using a telephoto lens, I’ve had the privilege of getting up close to these animals, capturing their quirks and individuality. I approached this project in a way that makes the viewer feel an emotional connection—by photographing animals in a portrait style, their personalities come through in a more human-like way. The goal is to remind us all that these creatures are more than just part of the landscape; they each have their own story to tell.
